This Sunday is Transfiguration Sunday. The Light that has come into the world gives a glimpse of what is to come. It is a time of transcendence. It is also the time that Jesus sets his focus upon returning to Jerusalem and ultimately to the cross. It is from the time of manifest Glory to a time manifest Passion.
The journey of Lent is a journey that begins with ashes and ends with a grave. It is the journey of humanity. From dust we were formed and into this dust God gave an eternal spirit, the very breath of God that gives us life. Creation and creator in intimate contact. God making a being who God desired to love with the ability and the choice to love God back. And we, being this created being, this embodiment of dust and divine, have been set in the midst of the reality of created time and space in order to have the opportunity to walk with God.
Let us reflect up the Mount of Transfiguration with the understanding that this is our desired destiny. Let us walk through Lent with our Lord. Let us take up the cross in mindset and purpose. Let us do it for love.
